Happy Birthday

Today is my mom's birthday and wish her all the best on this day and every day!

Anyone who knows me also knows I have a hard time with this. I wasn't raised by my mother I was raised by hers. And my grandmother is a special person in her own right and I am thankful she did raise me or who knows where I would of ended up and with who.

A day like today makes me wish we were closer!

My daughter and I have a close very meaningful relationship and can't imagine not talking to her everyday, whether on the phone or on-line. Funny if we don't talk everyday it is a call to make sure everything is alright. And to be part of my grand children's lives is just absolutely awesome! Who ever hasn't experienced the love of a grand child, hang-on because it is a life changing experience. And to not be a part of their lives would hurt me beyond anything I can imagine. Now for those that have randomly fallen upon my blog you probably are not understanding what I am really talking about. For my friends, you know how deeply I have been hurt in the past with my lost relationship with my mother and wish we could be like normal families. And I wish she would open her heart to her great-grandchildren.

Fences need to be mended is what some might say, well who should mend them is my question, and how come it never really gets mended. I am not a forgiving person and if you know me you know this to be true, I can hold a grudge for a very long time. And I also can be punishing and yes I will punish you with my words and actions. I believe all actions have re-actions. I will always take responsibility for my actions and don't have a problem to apologize if I am wrong or done something to offend. I will not change I am who I am, take me or leave me.

Kind of sound nasty don't I? Well maybe I am, sorry for that. It is a sore spot for me.

But hey life goes on, babies are born and people die. Always find it a shame that so much family is only seen at a birth or a death. We embrace a birth of a new baby and we cry at the death of a loved one, but what about the in-between when we should be celebrating being here and having family to talk to and spend time with. It shouldn't be the only time we talk is to celebrate or to mourn.

Well it is the weekend again and Donkey is golfing again. I think he likes it, even though he always comes home complaining about his golf game. Practice makes perfect. He should be getting pretty good by now. I kid, he hasn't really played that much this season, has been working like a mad bee around the house, and you sure can see his accomplishments in a big way. Who knew retirement for me would keep Donkey outside working, I knew I should of retired years ago.

Today is a chilly day and I should be outside cutting the grass and doing some yard work, but thinking it isn't going to happen, maybe tomorrow, not in the mood to cut grass. And with it being Friday I don't have to cook dinner either, what a lady of leisure I am. Should run to the store and get some bon-bons and relax with a good book. Okay twist my arm that is probably exactly what I am going to do. Tonight my neighbor is coming over for some wine and hot tub, will be a nice end to a long week.

Sorry I started my post today being so full of self pity, but days like today just makes me want so much more, oh well, not going to happen, so I will have a few glasses of my favorite wine and probably a cry tonight and tomorrow will be a new day.

Have a Happy Weekend everyone and I will ramble to you next week.

Honest This Is Short

I know what you are thinking, I always say I will be brief and I never am. Well I am long winded what can I say. But no this one is short, I have lots to do today and have to get dinner going.

Please share in our sadness, our neighbors who we really enjoy next to us are selling their house. They have only been there I think two years but they are a very nice couple and we have enjoyed being their neighbors and are going to miss them. They aren't moving to another planet or anything but it is that thing where you say you will keep in touch and you never do.

Fingers crossed that whoever buys will be tolerant and not have a herd of kids. Wish us luck, we have had two great neighbors so far over the years so hopefully our luck holds out.

And that is it my friends, no really I am done for today. Look out tomorrow I will have all this pent-up writing to let go.

Have a Happy Day!

While working away today came across a site that really touched a nerve that I am sure most of us really share or you are really a very nice patient person, and good for you.

In line at any fast food chain, whether McDonald's or Subway, don't most of us know what is on the menu before getting there, or how about read it before you get in line if you are undecided. I do hate this, come on, don't you know what you want before you get up there, and what you want to know about the ingredients, seriously. Have they been under a rock or hit by one. Now we are talking about a sit down meal at somewhere with cloth napkins, I mean that is a total different experience and I don't have to hear the undecided the waitress or waiter has to deal with them. Or how about the long line at Tim Horton's and they don't know how they want their coffee, how can you not know what you take in your coffee, someone hit them with that rock I was talking about. Now the likelihood of actually getting your order right at a Tim Horton's would be surprising at least to me it would. Drive-thru's have staff that really can't be seen by the out front customers, because they are stupid! Love getting down the highway to have my steeped tea, two milk one sugar and guess what it is a hot chocolate. So why ask us what we want if they are gonna just give us whatever anyways. My sister is a firm believer of opening her coffee right at the window and tasting before she drives off, smart, but annoying for the person behind. You know it isn't going to be right and now it has to be re-made, oh and she won't pull away for them to do it either, kind of makes me laugh.

That is another thing at any fast food stomach pain restaurants, you order at the drive-thru and then they have you pay then pull over to the side to wait and take a billion other orders while you wait. Okay I didn't order anything extravagant, let's face it there isn't anything on the menu that is rocket science and most of it is just re-heated anyways, so why the wait. Must be something that people don't order much, oh no there goes my stomach.

Here is my last beef today. The grocery store is busy, we are all lined up at one till of a very tired looking teen, who appears frustrated and she has called for help, where the hell is the rest of the staff. The best place to witness this is WalMart at any given time of the day they never have enough staff at the check-outs. The staff on the floor aren't any help either, I think they just have people walking around with those stupid blue vests to make it look like they have staff. Or how about first thing in the morning and they are having their morning cheer, again there is one cash open and a line-up going into the electronic department. Oh which you can't pay for anything other than electronics in, you get to stand in that line if you want a movie and then go and stand in the other line for the other purchases. And we do it, but why do we do it. I don't know about you but time is money, yes I am retired and have all the time in the world, but I sure as hell don't want to wait in another stupid line to buy my over priced whatever and pay for a bag that is so frigging thin you could never re-use it for anything else.

Well I think I could go on and on with all of this and I better stop before I really get going. But doesn't it just irk you that we are letting this go on and on and on! But the question of the day would be, how do you or we change this. And please don't say government we all know that isn't going to happen, we are lambs at the slaughter when it comes to out government and the control we have over that, seriously. And if you think we can change the government and how it dictates to us then please go back to the top of today's blog and find that rock and please hit yourself in the head with it.

Okay my children, I am off for another day, I really again am not getting anything done, was suppose to be making a meatloaf for dinner, well my neighbor came over and after a few too many beer (yes I can type and drink beer can't you) I am not up to making meatloaf. Guess what we are having for dinner tomorrow?

Everyone enjoy the rest of the beautiful day it has turned out to be, be happy and love thy neighbor you never know when they aren't going to be there anymore.

This is a good read!

Here are some tips to remember, which should make cleaning your house easier–or at least more fun!

1. Don’t vacuum too often— it weakens the carpet fibers. Say this with a serious face, and shudder delicately whenever anyone mentions Carpet Fresh.

2. If disturbed, dust bunnies cannot evolve into dust rhinos. Rename the area under the couch “The Galapagos Islands,” and claim an ecological exemption.

3. Layers of dirty film on windows and screens provide a helpful filter against harmful and aging rays from the sun. Call it an SPF factor of 5, and leave it alone.

4. Cobwebs artfully draped over lampshades reduce the glare from the bulb, thereby creating a romantic atmosphere. If your husband points out that the light fixtures need dusting, simply look affronted and exclaim, “What? And spoil the mood?”

5. In a pinch, you can always claim that the haphazard tower of unread magazines and newspapers next to your chair provides the valuable Feng Shui aspect of a tiger, thereby reducing your vulnerability. Roll your eyes when you say this.

6. Explain away the mound of pet hair brushed up against the doorways by claiming you are collecting it there to use for stuffing hand-sewn play animals for underprivileged children.

7. If unexpected company is coming, pile everything unsightly into one room and close the door. As you show your guests through your tidy home, rattle the door knob vigorously, fake a growl and say, “I’d love you to see our Den, but Fluffy hates to be disturbed, and the shots are SO expensive.”

8. If dusting is REALLY out of control, simply place a showy urn on the coffee table and insist that “THIS is where Grandma wanted us to scatter her ashes.”

9. Don’t bother repainting. Simply scribble lightly over a dirty wall with an assortment of crayons, and try to muster a glint of tears as you say, “Junior did this the week before that unspeakable accident. I haven’t had the heart to clean it.”

10. Mix one-quarter cup pine-scented household cleaner with four cups of water in a spray bottle. Mist the air lightly. Leave dampened rags in conspicuous locations. Develop an exhausted look, throw yourself onto the couch, and sigh, “I clean and I clean, and I still don’t get anywhere.”

So if you are thinking of popping in beware of many of the above. Isn't it cute, I would like to take credit for writing, but I didn't and I can't remember where I stole from, but they don't know me so the likelihood of them reading is next to nil, and if they do, leave a comment and let us know who you are.

Doing my link building I run across a lot of good talent and it makes for a great day reading peoples thoughts and opinions. There is so many people out there doing the same thing with their blogs daily, just writing their thoughts down; whether for themselves or others, it is great. A good place to talk about what is on your mind or what is happening in your day, or what ticks you off, which is kind of for me all of the above. When Donkey doesn't want to talk to me, which can be often, he tells me all he hears is blah, blah, blah, I have somewhere to sound off. I have been blessed with a large mouth and sometimes it is really hard to contain myself. Who am I kidding I very rarely contain myself if ever really if we are going to be honest. :)

We are having fall like weather here in my little village, trees are already changing colors and of course falling in the damn pool. I wish they would just blow to someone else's yard, or die. That is mean, but I don't have any trees in my back yard, it is the neighbors that fall over and don't think it is fair that I have to clean up after them. Maybe large nets around the yard would work, is that too much to ask Donkey to create for me? I guess this year with being retired it will fall on me to rake leaves, yuck! Don't mind if they are dry but when they are wet and goopy I am hard pressed to want to handle them at all. Maybe I should get a leaf blower and blow them back over the fence, mmm, I am thinking this could work. They aren't home during the day, will have to buy myself a new toy.

I really don't have much else to say today, I should be link building still, which I will when I am done here, this is kind of my afternoon break and re-fuel. With the link building you have to stay fresh or you don't get published, no publishing and you don't get good ratings, ratings keep me employed. Its a hard gig but someone has to do it. So off I go, have a very Happy Day!

Did You Have A Nice Weekend?

So did everyone have a nice weekend? The weather was sure HOT yesterday, wow! We actually were pretty quiet really. Donkey plays hockey on Friday nights so date night has been thrown out the window. Date night consisted of dinner at our favorite little restaurant right here in out tiny little village, always very good, no surprises. And then Donkey had golf on Saturday, said it was terrible, but he still goes. If I hated something that much I sure wouldn't always be going, but that is another one of those differences between men and women.

Saturday night I was on Skype with my daughter and my great friend out west until 4:30 in the morning. Actually we were on ooVoo, lets you have up to 6 people on-line at the same time, pretty cool, but it isn't a free site like Skype, so stick with Skype unless you want to pay. You might be asking what we were doing on till that time, well we were catching up only like great friends can and drinking too much. Sunday morning came way too early, had to go back to bed after letting my old dog out. Had only 2 hours sleep at that point, couldn't function, needed more sleep. Slept in till 11:30, which is really weird for the insomniac that I am, so kind of messed me up for the remainder of the day. And then to get up to all that heat, holy it was hot. I had to go for a swim before bed just to try and bring down my internal temperature.

Today I am accomplishing NOTHING!!!! I can't seem to work, and it is really windy outside so don't really want to sit out there. Should of stayed in bed today I think. I have taken out chicken for supper and now I have no inspiration of what to do with it. I am thinking cajun chicken it is (meaning I will probably burn it).

Guys are still working across the road on the school, I am sure they appreciate the wind, other than it is blowing crap all over the neighborhood, which I guess they are responsible for picking up as per my son who is still working there. Now how do you go about chasing stuff all around when you are up on a roof and it is obviously blowing off the roof? So I guess their end of a day kind of sucks.

All in all was really kind of a quiet weekend, I didn't really even go anywhere, which is fine with me, I am quite happy to just stay at home and putter. I cut the grass on Friday and was weed eating around the pool and there goes another stupid weed eater, I don't think I am meant to do that blue job. Donkey said this one he can fix no problem, something to do with the string thing. But I sure hate weed eating pulling around a big cord, pain in the butt, and makes me a little nervous when the cord falls in the pool. But what is a girl suppose to do, not allowed to have a goat, which would do a much better job in my opinion. So it didn't get done, and still not fixed, oh well I guess when I cut the grass this week there will just be more weed eating to do. And did lots of plant pruning, they are hanging on really well, I am usually pretty good for killing most of my plants, this year I seem to have a knack for getting them to grow and stay alive. Next year I am hoping for a small vegetable garden, will have to wait and see.

Donkey has been working lots (in-between his other commitments) on the hot tub space, which is looking great. Turning out really nice, going to be a really great addition to the back of the house and the yard to get away from the elements. Probably won't be complete with screens this year but that is okay, will do that in the spring.

Anyways I really should be link building, which just doesn't seem to be happening today for some reason and I do have to go and get some wine for dinner. Donkey doesn't drink wine so it will be really for me to have with dinner. What does one have with cajun chicken, will have to ask them.

Have a Happy Day everyone!
